After a quick trip to Miami, I am back rehearsing for New York City Ballet’s spring performance season that opens next Tuesday (come!!). I’ve been on an exciting rollercoaster with Get Golden, balancing our growing wholesale presence (106 accounts!), and building towards a big launch this summer. While Miami was a wonderful reset, there’s nothing I love more than doing what I love — which is to dance and build something I’m passionate about.

I love building a personal toolkit. After launching Get Golden, I went through various phases feeling extremely stuck with how I worked and operated both in business and life. I have always been curious about different ways we can learn about ourselves, whether it’s through Myers-Briggs, astrology, and yes I’ve been to a psychic (you name it I’ll probs try it). With that said, I’m the first person to run when I read a buzzy goopified headline like “Unlock your Life Purpose!!”
I don’t know whether it’s coincidence or what you believe… Human Design stared into my soul. Don’t know how else to say this, other than that it is my personal favorite way to legitimize how I feel my best operating. Perhaps it’s growing up as a ballerina (more on that soon), perhaps just human nature, it’s easy to look at how others work and operate and compare yourself. Why can’t I do this like they can? Why don’t I feel like that when they do? We are all different and that’s the whole point. The key is figuring out how you can be your best self for you.
So let’s get to it and why I’d love for you to see if any of this helps:
What is Human Design?
Human Design is a holistic self-knowledge system that teaches you ways to learn more about your personality, emotions, and energy centers. It was created in 1992 by Alan Krakower and is essentially a mix of Kabbalah, I'Ching, Myers-Briggs, astrology, biochemistry, genetics, and the chakra system all in one. There are five design types – manifestors, generators, manifesting generators, projectors, and reflectors.

How to find your Human Design?
The best places I’ve found beyond the more modernized company’s you find on Instagram are Jovian Archive and My Body Graph. Jenna Zoe’s, My Human Design and her app are also a great place to start. You input your birthday, time, and location and it calculates everything.
What now?
It can get pretty complex and feel overwhelming at first glance, but I found it helpful to focus on just two aspects – your energy type and your authority. Your energy type refers to how you exert and exchange your energy and authority refers to how you make decisions. Reading the descriptions was SO spot on for me and I’m genuinely curious to see if it also resonates with you.

Human Design has since been Instagramified and brought way more mainstream from its early beginnings and first presentation. I don’t want to scare you away, but I found it pretty eye opening to see the evolution.

If you're looking for a youtube esc video with two layers of concealer/foundation titled “no makeup” look, these are not the right suggestions. My idea of no makeup is simply evening out your skin tone (yes maybe a pimple will show through, but that’s life).
My 5 non negotiable staples for the past 5 years. This has been my go to favorite look for years with a new addition of my latest blush obsession that kicked off the last candidate on the roster.
Lily Lolo mineral foundation – perfect I started using this foundation when I was navigating a ton of skin sensitivities and allergies. That phase has luckily passed, but the powder is here to stay. It’s the most perfect dusting powder to even out your skin tone without any added pimples or irritation. I spend many hours sweating working out or in the ballet studio and really does get the job done.
Let’s talk about eyelash curlers. You name the curler I’ve tried, Nars, Mac, Kevyn Aucoin… Surratt makes my favorite one. Eager to see if any of you have found a better one, but I swear this one gives the most perfect lift from the base of your eye. You look awake and lifted alllllmost as if you’ve had a lash lift.
Chanel Bronzer – This bronzer paired with this brush is my secret weapon during the winter to not look entirely dead when it’s cold. I’ve had the brush forever and it’s still in perfect condition. Do a light dusting on your forehead, nose, and the contours of your cheeks.
Anastasia Brow Wiz – A strong brow helps create structure to your face. I love doing a super light sweep with the pencil and then a brush upward with the brow. It helps awaken and lift up your face.
Saie Dew Blush in Cutie. This is a new one in my lineup, but my absolute favorite as it gives the best warm flush. Unless I know I’m not going to be running around all day or being flushed from ballet, I lean towards warm blushes or something fun and pink. This one has been my go to for the perfect warm toned blush making you feel perfectly sunkissed ;)

Lots of questions about what’s inside my morning bowl! Meet my mean green morning breakfast fixation. We haven’t named her yet, but I promised I would share the recipe — I need your help!!
Yes she is ugly, but let me tell you, you feel amazing all day starting your morning like this. I suppose I could spend time making it look more “aesthetic,” but here we are. She’s beautiful to me. Did I mention 40g of protein?!
What’s in it and why? I use a base of frozen sweet potato and banana (less ripe the better), and avocado. This blend not only lends for the perfect texture, but it doesn’t give you an unnecessary sugar spike first thing in the morning. I use a blend of protein powder and collagen for 34g of protein boost. Flax oil is high in omega-3 and amazing for skin and inflammation. Chlorella and barley greens are two highly nutritious green boosts that I will spare you the extensive explanation (dm me if you want!).
Ingredients:
Frozen purple sweet potato or banana (handful)
Avocado (small knob around 1/4 avo)
Protein powder (1 serving vanilla)
Collagen (1 serving)
1 TBS Flax oil
1 tsp Barley Greens
1 tsp Chlorella
Splash of Almond milk (no gums pls!)
Ice
*Topped with sunrise nut butter spread (6g protein) and granola :)))
Method:
This works best in a small blender or one with a tamper. Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until creamy and smooth. Scoop into a bowl and top with nut butter and granola. Best morning boost.
